Summer Volunteer Programs
Summer is a great time to explore new opportunities, gain valuable experience, and make a positive impact in your community through volunteering. With so many organizations offering summer volunteer programs, it can be challenging to find the right fit. If you are interested in volunteering in Southern Nevada, Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada is a great place to start. You can volunteer at Catholic Charities this summer with a number of different programs that we will highlight in this blog.
Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada is a nonprofit organization that provides a wide range of services to people in need, including food, shelter, and healthcare. We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities throughout the year, including summer volunteering programs. Whether you are looking to gain experience in social work, help feed those in need, or simply give back to your community, Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada has a volunteer opportunity for you.
Volunteering at Community Meal and Food Pantry with Catholic Charities
Summer is the perfect time to give back to your community, and one great way to do so is by volunteering at Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada's Free Community Meal and Hands of Hope Food Pantry. These programs are essential to providing nutritious meals and food to those in need throughout the Las Vegas area.
Volunteers at the Community Meal program help serve meals, sanitize tables, prepare dishes for washing, take meal tickets, and hand out water to guests. The meals are served every day from 10 am to 11 am at the St. Vincent Lied Dining Facility, and around 500 meals are served daily. As a volunteer, you will play an important role in ensuring that everyone receives their meal and that the environment remains clean and safe for all. To volunteer at the Community Meal program, you must be at least 14 years old.
In addition to the Community Meal program, volunteers are also needed at the Hands of Hope Food Pantry. The food pantry is open from Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 3:30 pm. Volunteers help clients transport groceries, stock shelves, fill USDA bags or boxes, and ensure that the pantry is clean and organized for clients. The pantry provides a variety of food items, including fresh produce, canned goods, and baked goods, and registered clients can access it once every 30 days.
If you are unable to volunteer in person, you can still help by donating non-perishable food items or making a monetary contribution. Every little bit helps in providing assistance to those in need.
Volunteering with Your Company or Organization as a Summer Activity
Looking for a way to bring your team together this summer? Why not consider volunteering with your company or organization? Not only is it a great team bonding experience, but it also allows you to give back to your community.
At Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada, we welcome companies and organizations to sign up their groups to assist with our Community Meals or Hands of Hope Food Pantry. Whether it's serving meals to our guests or helping our clients gather food items, your team can make a real difference in the lives of those in need.
Volunteering with us not only benefits our guests and clients, but it also benefits your team. By working together to give back to the community, you'll build stronger bonds and improve teamwork skills. It's a great way to boost morale and create a sense of purpose beyond the office.
While the holidays tend to be a popular time for volunteering, we welcome companies and organizations to volunteer with us at any time of the year. Summer is a great time to get involved, as many of our regular volunteers may be taking time off or have other commitments. Plus, with many people on vacation or taking time off, it can be a slower time in the office, making it a great opportunity to give back.
Remote Volunteer Options
At Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada, we understand that not everyone can volunteer in person due to various reasons. That's why we offer remote volunteering services as an alternative way to contribute to our cause. One of our remote volunteering opportunities is to provide comfort kits to our patients by collecting and purchasing the necessary items to assemble them.
When you sign up for this program, we will provide you with a list of items needed in each kit. You can then complete the assembly on your own time, whenever it's convenient for you. Once you finish assembling the kits, all you need to do is deliver them to the Catholic Charities administration building, located at 1501 Las Vegas Blvd N. You can drop them off anytime between Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4 pm.
We understand that life can get busy, and it's not always possible to volunteer in person. That's why we offer this remote option to make volunteering more convenient and accessible for everyone. By participating in this program, you can still make a positive impact on the community and provide comfort to those in need.
Whether you're unable to volunteer in person due to a busy schedule or prefer to contribute remotely, we welcome your support and appreciate your commitment to helping those in need. Contact us today to learn more about how you can participate in our remote volunteering program and make a difference in the lives of others.
