"Economic hurdles continue to impact the most vulnerable in our city, and we urge the community to find it in their hearts to give ahead of this holiday season,” said Deacon Tom Roberts, CEO of Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada. “Even the smallest donations of food, funds, or volunteer time can make a world of difference for those in need this Thanksgiving. Let’s come together as a community to spread hope and kindness, ensuring that everyone can enjoy a warm meal and the spirit of gratitude this holiday season."

Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada (CCSN) is once again calling on the community for major support this Thanksgiving, requesting frozen turkeys and food donations, as inflation rates and rising food costs challenge citizens nationwide. Through CCSN’s various food programs, it supplies nutritious resources year-round to Southern Nevada’s most vulnerable populations, including, but not limited to, food-insecure neighbors, the homeless and homebound seniors.

Hands of Hope, the organization’s food pantry, aims to provide a frozen turkey and meal fixings to meet the expected demand of more than 150 families per day, with the potential to ramp up to 250 or more during the busy holiday season. Donations of frozen turkeys and nonperishable dinner fixings, such as boxed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, green beans, cranberry sauce, and canned yams, will be accepted daily from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the Catholic Charities campus, located at 1501 Las Vegas Blvd. North, Las Vegas, NV 89101.

From Oct. 21 to 25,CCSN kitchen staff will conduct substantial prep work, including roasting turkeys, cooking sides and sauces, and packaging thousands of meals in advance of all Thanksgiving activities. This preparation will enable them to deliver double the number of Meals on Wheels packages to nearly 2,500 homebound seniors the week before Thanksgiving.

In November, CCSN will also serve its 59thconsecutive free Thanksgiving meal to 700 homeless and vulnerable men, women and children as well as deliver 2,450 holiday meals to the homebound seniors through its Meals on Wheels program.
